Ben Holst
Ben Holst got his start like any aspiring producer: tweaking the espresso console at Southern Tracks Recording here in Atlanta.
While life as a coffee engineer made for good conversation, his work and time has paid off with recent credits including R.E.M, Drive-By Truckers, Patton Oswalt, The Sammies, A Fight To the Death, and many more label and indie stalwarts.
The experience in the Athens/Atlanta community most recently took him to Nashville where he continues to work as a session musician and freelance producer for Sony/ATV. Past Sony/ATV clients include Bill Anderson, Curly Putman, Leslie Satcher, Bill Luther, Tony Lane, Jim Lauderdale, Dean Dillon, Jamie O'Hara, and Tom Douglas
In addition to making records and demos for artists, Ben is a writer, producer, voiceover artist and partner with Tunewelder Music Group, LLC, a music production and licensing company. Tunewelder clients include: Verizon Wireless, Full Throttle Energy Drinks, AGCO Tractors, JFG Coffee, and Shane's Rib Shack.
As a songwriter, Ben's own music has been featured on MTV2, ESPN2, Lifetime, Discovery Channel, NHRA.com and numerous independent films.
As a player, Ben has been featured on studio recordings with notable artists such as Morris Pleasure, David LaBruyere, Jimmy Herring, Dave Schools, Jeff Mosier, David Blackmon, John Neff, Marty Kearns, Jon Roberts, Herb Avery, Josh Day, and Fred Vigdor.
Ben's album credits include: electric or acoustic 6, 12 string guitars, baritone guitar, lap steel, Dobro, pedal steel, 5 String, fretless, and upright bass, mandolin, erhu, Hammond organ, piano, banjo, fiddle, harmonica and harmony vocals.
